This is kind of old news, but I thought I’d post it anyway. Broken Hill was swon at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy in late July, and won three awards in the generation 13+ section. They are as follows:

Best Film

The Special CGS Awards (Social-cultural Cineclubs for Young People)
Reasons: For the originality used by the director to address important topics related to young people, such as the communicative power of music and love and the depth of the relationship between parents and sons. The use of a creative and teenage-friendly film language also proved to be very fascinating

Arca Cinemagiovani Award
Reasons: For having told, through a boy’s dream, how creativity and music can overcome the limits of a narrow-minded society, whose sight is blurred by prejudice. For having shown that if you believe in yourself and in your potential and you cultivate your own passions, without giving up when faced to obstacles or letting be disheartened, you can make your dreams come true
