James Cameron’s latest film sensation, Sanctum, was screened for its virgin time at the Australian International Movie Convention two sleeps ago.
Mega star of the flick Rhys Wakefield and producer whiz Andrew Wight presented the 3 full scenes, and one “package reel”, in 3D no less, with wowed audience been ordered no mobile phones or cameras!
The first part showed Welshman Ioan Gruffudd’s character flying a chopper to the opening of the cave system.
The Gold Coast was brought to life showing the Broadwater and Hinterland in stunning 3D, including the beautiful Cedar Creek Falls located on Tamborine Mountain.
James Cameron, exec producer, offered up an intro to the scenes via a hi tech videolink and advised he believed the use of 3D would ‘create a great sense of claustrophobia’. It’s your flick mate, so whatever you say.
He also explained that one his goals with the flick was to prove that you “didn’t have to have a $100m budget to make an excellent 3D film”. Most tended to agree.
Sanctum is to be unleashed on the public at large next February. No word on betting odds re the films takings as yet, but stay tuned.
Rhys was last spotted at 9th Annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California on September 23, 2011.
