Seems like the release of the trailer for Sanctum gets A LOT of publicity! That can only be a good thing :) It’s right now on the front page at IMDB, and that will probably gain a lot of interest! I’ll make a new post as soon as anything of significance comes up ;)

I just can’t wait until the movie comes out :D

WILL James Cameron’s new 3D action thriller Sanctum, filmed on the Gold Coast earlier this year, do for 21-year-old Rhys Wakefield what Avatar did for Sam Worthington?

Quite likely – if the just-released trailer is anything to go by.

Best known for his performance in the AFI award-winning coming-of-age story The Black Balloon, Wakefield has beefed up for his breakthrough role as one of the film’s two leads.

Based on the true story, it tells of a team of cave drivers who become trapped underground by a tropical storm during a treacherous expedition to the largest, most beautiful and least accessible cave system on Earth.

The film is helmed by local director Alister Grierson (Kokoda).

Cameron, who served as executive produce, has obviously developed a fondness for Australians.

Richard Roxburgh has been cast as the film’s other lead – a master diver and Wakefield’s father.

Sanctum opens in Australia on February 3.

Watch the trailer and check out the official site, now :D Will update more later today!

According to Molly, Rhys is currently in LA until the end of November I hear that he has been to lots of auditions! Also, the trailer for Sanctum is slated to released on October 28th :D I can’t wait to see it!!

Ioan Gruffud  who co-stars alongside Rhys in Sanctum, talked about the film in a recent interview.

IOAN Gruffudd has revealed that his latest blockbuster movie has put him off caving for life – despite filming it all with the help of computer graphics.

The 37-year-old actor has just finished filming James Cameron’s new 3D action movie Sanctum.

It tells the story of an underwater cave diving team who experience a life-threatening crisis, during an expedition to the unexplored and least accessible cave system in the world.

And, despite not having to dip his feet in water during production of the film, the Cardiff actor said the whole experience is enough to put him off for life.

Ioan, who is married to actress Alice Evans, with whom he has a one-year-old daughter Ella Betsi, told us: “It’s about a group of cave divers who get trapped in a cave. We filmed it all on a blue screen in Australia so I didn’t have to do any actual diving myself, thank God, but there are people who do.

“It’s amazing – they go to the middle of the Earth. I think the thrill is going as deep as they can.

“But it is definitely not for me – you won’t get me near a cave any time soon!”

The action movie, directed by Titanic and Avatar’s James Cameron, is a stark contrast to Ioan’s other 2011 film, Foster, in which he stars alongside Aussie actress Toni Collette.
